In 1901, the team was one of the American League’s eight charter franchises. This American professional baseball team spent its first year as a major league club in Milwaukee in Wisconsin under the name of Milwaukee Brewers. The team then shifted to St. Louis and the name of the team was changed to the St. Louis Browns. Then in 1954, after 52 years of no real win in prominent matches, the St. Louis Browns moved to Baltimore. The team adopted the “Orioles” name in the honor of the official bird of the state of Maryland. This was not the first time that a team was using the name “Orioles”. It had previously been used by other clubs of the major league in Baltimore, which also included the American League Baltimore Orioles franchise from 1901 to 1902, a team which later became famously known as The New York Yankees. The old team of the Baltimore Orioles of the National League won National League championships under their Hall of Fame manager by the name of John McGraw.

The history of the wins of this professional American baseball team is simply exceptional. The Baltimore have had some of the greatest successes in professional baseball from 1964 to 1983. They have won seven Divisional Champions in the years of 1973 to 1974, 1983, 1969 to 1971 and 1979. The team has also won six pennants in the years of 1983, 1979, 1966 and 1969 to 1971. The Orioles first World Series Championship team which was held in 1966 was at that time led by the famous Hall of Famers Frank Robinson (OF), Jim Palmer (P) and Brooks Robinson (3B). In the World Series Championship of 1966, Frank Robinson won the World Series MVP Award and also an award as the Triple Crown in hitting. In all of this, Frank Robinson led the American League in a batting average, runs batted in and home runs. In 1970, when the second World Series Championships were held, the Orioles team was then led by the prior trio o Hall of Famers, namely: Earl Weaver the Hall of Fame manager for the team along with the AL MVP 1970 Boog Powell (1B). In the 1970 World Series Championship, Brooks Robinson won the World Series MVP Award.

In 1966 the Baltimore Orioles had a successful victory in their first American League Wild Card playoff appearance and then the team just hit such an awesome streak of luck that they went on to winning wire to wire in the American League’s East Division Championship in 1997. Davey Johnson won the American League Manager of the Year Award for the Orioles. Ever since, Cal Ripken Jr. retired from the team in 200, this American professional baseball team has been playing extremely triumphantly at their home ground stadium. The team is very well known and is famous for playing amazing games at their stadium which has been a trend setter by the name of the Oriole Park at the Camden Yards. The Oriole Park at the Camden Yards was inaugurated in 1992, near the birthplace of Babe Ruth.
