Cirque du Soleil is back again and this time, with the amazing show Quidam which has been seen by millions all over the world. This stage show started playing at various venues back in 1996 and has been playing on successfully since then. Over the years, it has become one of the most popular Cirque du Soleil shows ever. It was first played in a big top format but is now played in an even more interesting arena format. This show revolves around a young girl, Zoe, who creates her own imaginary world, Quidam, after her parents ignore and completely alienate her. She thus dreams up this exciting world so as to escape from the boring and forgotten life she finds herself in. The name Quidam is the name of the feature character of this Cirque du Soleil show who carries around a bowler hat and an umbrella. This particular character has been described as being nobody and everybody at the same time, a nameless passer by or a person sitting at a street corner.
 
Thus, Zoe finds herself in Quidam with a number of characters creating a fabulous and moving story that has doses of comedy sprinkled here and there. Cirque du Soleil’s Quidam has won various awards, including the Gold Medal at the 1995 Festival du Cirque de Demain and the Golden Clown at the 1999 International Monte Carlo Circus Festival. The stage itself is huge and is made up of a structure where people meet with each other, such as a train station, but with a more medieval fantasy like theme. Performers are transported on the stage through a top telepherique, arches forming over the stage. The stage itself is made of aluminum and a perforated stage mat with two-hundred-thousand spaces that allow light to pass through and create visual effects.
 
Combining with vivid visual effects, the stunning drama displayed by Zoe and her imaginary characters and the breathtaking performances by the performers active all over the stage and you have Quidam, a phenomenal show that is definitely an event that should be on top of your list.
