James William Buffett, or simply Jimmy Buffet, is a multitalented artist, popular for crafting songs like 'Margaritaville'. This renowned singer-songwriter is also an author, a businessman, and a film producer. He has two restaurant chains, which are named after two of his hits, including 'Margaritaville' and 'Cheeseburger in Paradise'. Jimmy is celebrated for having a laid-back beach bum persona and crafting humorous records of an easy-going seafaring life. All his tunes contain summaries of his philosophical perspective. Good examples would include 'My Head Hurts, My Feet Stink and I Don't Love Jesus' and 'Why Don't We Get Drunk (and Screw)'.

Although Jimmy was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, some of the portion of his childhood was spent in Mobile, Alabama, where he enrolled in St. Ignatius School. He reallocated to Fairhope, Alabama, in 1964 and completed his high school graduation from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. In 1969, Jimmy collected his bachelor's degree in history from the The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

From an early age, Jimmy had developed an interest in music and started playing the guitar in his college days. He first started off as a reporter for Billboard magazine in Nashville, and then gradually moved on to become a country artist at first in the 1960s. His debut album, Down to Earth, was released in 1970 and it sold more than 300 copies nationwide. His second release, however, was delayed due to the mismanagement of the Barnaby Records, who misplaced the master copy of Jimmy's sophomore effort. In 1973, one year after shifting to Key West, Jimmy got signed to ABC-Dunhill Records, and released another album, called A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean. It was not until 1977 when Jimmy Buffett received his commercial breakthrough with the platinum hit single 'Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes', which reached #12 on the music charts, along with the hit single 'Margaritaville' that scored at #8.

Till date, the versatile artist has released several hit albums, including the 1985 compilation Songs You Know By Heart, which sold two million copies, and the 1992 release Boats Beaches Bars & Ballads that went platinum. Jimmy's massive success piloted him to set up his own Margaritaville Empire that included a record label and Margaritaville Store and Cafe outlets in Key West and New Orleans.

At first, Jimmy began touring around occasionally. He started playing in different clubs, accompanied by his fake band that consisted of Kay Pasa, Ms. Kitty Litter, and the famous Marvin Gardens. Later, from 1975 onwards, Jimmy began touring with a real band - the Coral Reefer Band. Till date, Jimmy's touring along with his Coral Reefer Band continues. The current members of Jimmy Buffet band are Mac McAnally and Peter Mayer on the guitars and vocals, Jim Mayer on the bass guitar and vocals, Michael Utley on the keyboards, Ralph MacDonald on the percussion, Robert Greenidge on the percussion and steel drums, Roger Guth on the drums, John Lovell on the trumpet, Doyle Grisham on the pedal steel, and Nadirah Shakoor and Tina Gullickson on the vocals.

The man also earned a prestigious status in other walks of life too. He is a renowned author, and has written Tales from Margaritaville, and a novel called Where Is Joe Merchant?. In addition, Jimmy has also written two children's books, The Jolly Man and Trouble Dolls, and received positive reception for his style. Now, when the legendary music icon comes to perform at venue near you, you better grab your glass of Margarita and get in the Hawaiian mood altogether! It is time for some real fun and party people! His first album Down to Earth was released in the seventies and is considered to have stylistic differences when compared to his other work.

Jimmy Buffettt went on to release five albums during the seventies that were titled as A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean,Living & Dying in 3/4 Time, A1A, Havana Daydreamin and Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes

He is a writer as well and writes almost all of his songs himself. Tropical climate and laid back style define his music. His famous song Margaritaville was written about a Texan drink and the first rush of tourists that appeared on Key West. Cheeseburger in Paradise is another famous song by Jimmy Buffettt and inspiration for this song came to him during a boat journey in Caribbean where he dreamed about a hot cheeseburger when he was surviving on canned food. He very smartly named his two restaurant chains after these two famous songs. His album License to Chill in 2004 topped the U.S pop charts and gave him the much deserved glory for his music spanning three decades.
